Opt-Out Policy

1. Purpose and scope

This policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains what Spaceducators does with personal information; this page explains how to stop us doing it. Where the two overlap, this page gives the practical steps.

It applies to this website and to email we send you. Where a right below depends on where you live, we say so.

2. What we collect and why

Two categories, both covered in more detail in the Privacy Policy.

Information you give us

Collected only when you contact us or book a session:

• Name and email address
• Subject of interest and what you want help with
• Session scheduling details
• Billing information, handled by our payment provider — we do not store full card numbers
• Your correspondence with our support team

Information collected automatically

Collected as you use the site:

• IP address and approximate location
• Browser type and device information
• Pages visited, referring page and time on site
• Cookie identifiers — itemised in the Cookie Policy

3. The purposes we use it for

Each purpose is listed here so you can see which of them the opt-outs in section 4 actually affect:

• Matching you with a suitable tutor, and running the sessions you book
• Taking payment and issuing refunds
• Replying to enquiries and support requests
• Sending service messages such as session reminders and booking confirmations
• Sending marketing email, where you have asked for it
• Aggregate analytics on how the site is used, so we can fix what isn't working
• Meeting legal, tax and accounting obligations

Tutor matching is done by a person reading your enquiry. We do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects, so there is no automated processing here for you to object to.

4. What you can opt out of

The table states our position on each activity. Where we say an activity does not happen, that is a statement of current practice — if it changes, this page and the revision date change with it.

Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct, delete or port your data, and to appeal a refusal. Those are set out in the Privacy Policy and are exercised the same way.

5. How to opt out

Each method below works on its own. You do not need to use more than one for the same thing.

Marketing email

• Use the unsubscribe link at the foot of any marketing email — it takes effect immediately and needs no account
• Or email [email protected] asking to be removed
• Unsubscribing does not stop service email about a session you have already booked; cancel the booking for that

Analytics

• Install Google's official browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics on every site, not just ours
• Or block analytics cookies in your browser settings, as below
• Either method leaves the rest of the site working normally

Cookies

• Every major browser can block or delete cookies by site in its privacy settings — the Cookie Policy lists exactly which cookies we set
• Blocking non-essential cookies costs you saved preferences such as your time zone, and nothing else
• Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the site working, including the contact form

Global Privacy Control and browser signals

• We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where your browser or extension sends one, and treat it as a valid opt-out request
• GPC is applied to the browser sending it. It cannot reach an account or a mailing list, so unsubscribe separately for email
• Do Not Track is interpreted inconsistently across browsers and there is no agreed standard for responding to it, so we do not rely on it. Use GPC

Support chat

• The chat widget can be dismissed, and blocking non-essential cookies prevents it loading at all
• You can always reach us by email at [email protected] instead

Advertising identifiers and industry opt-out tools

• We do not run a mobile app and do not use mobile advertising identifiers, so there is nothing here to reset
• We are not a member of any advertising network, so industry opt-out pages such as the DAA and NAI tools have no record for us to switch off
• Those tools are still worth using for browser-wide advertising control

6. Making a request by email

If you would rather we handled it, email [email protected] with:

• The email address the request relates to
• What you want stopped — be as specific or as broad as you like
• Nothing else. We do not require an account, a copy of your ID, or a reason

We acknowledge within 2 working days and act within 30 days. If we need to confirm the request came from you, we do it using information we already hold rather than by asking for new documents.

7. Authorised agents

Someone may submit an opt-out on your behalf. We will ask for written permission signed by you, unless the agent holds a power of attorney. Verification is of the permission, not of the agent.

8. What happens after you opt out

• The opt-out takes effect as soon as we process it and does not expire
• We keep a minimal record of the opt-out itself — your email address and what you asked to stop — because that record is what lets us honour it
• Opting out of analytics or marketing does not affect sessions you have booked, refunds you are owed, or your ability to contact us
• We will not ask you to reconsider, and we do not send a confirmation email that doubles as a re-subscription prompt

9. No penalty for opting out

Exercising any right on this page will not change the price you pay, the tutors you can book, the quality of service you receive, or how quickly we reply to you. We do not offer discounts in exchange for permission to process more data.

10. If we get it wrong

If an opt-out is not honoured, or a request is refused, reply to the original thread or write to [email protected] and say you are appealing. A different person reviews it and responds within 30 days with the outcome and the reasoning.

You can also complain to your national data protection authority or state attorney general at any point, without appealing to us first.

11. Changes to this policy

The revision date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. If we ever begin an activity currently listed in section 4 as one we do not do, we will update this page before starting and notify you by email where we hold your address.
